Welcome to the Junto Society's how Government Works page. The is an ongoing project with several goals in mind. Once this page nears completion, each elected position at the Municipal, County, State and Federal levels, as well as many appointed positions, will be outlined with a brief description of the position.  Simply click each link to view the description. These descriptions will be followed by submissions from people around the country who actually fill those positions.  We have done this to illustrate how positions may vary according to location.  For instance, a County Clerk in Texas, does a substantially different job from a County Clerk in Oklahoma.

You will also find a brief description of the various forms of government used throughout the United States by clicking on the links; Municipal, County, State, and Federal. At the bottom of the page, you will also find links to other information concerning how government works in America.

We hope you find this project helpful and that you will return often to view updates.
